Pioneer health monitoring program at Pilgangoora
14 August 2025
PLS has teamed up with Tibi Healthcare to deliver onsite health monitoring services for employees at its Pilgangoora Operation in Western Australia’s Pilbara region.
This industry-first initiative for the WA mining sector brings state-of-the-art mobile medical facilities to site, ensuring accessible healthcare services for PLS workers in remote working environments.
The mobile medical service is equipped with a low – dose computed tomography scanner (LDCT), enabling the early detection of lung conditions and heart disease. Based on individual exposure histories and in consultation with an Occupational Physician, personnel are assessed and referred for on-site screening.
The program’s first phase, implemented in June 2025, focussed on priority workforce groups identified through comprehensive hygiene monitoring.
Rather than travelling to medical appointments in Perth outside of work hours, PLS employees had all legislated Health Monitoring assessments available on site at the Pilgangoora Operation while on shift.
This proactive approach enables PLS to safeguard employee health and wellbeing both now and into the future, through early detection and proactive management.
PLS Chief Operating Officer Brett McFadgen said “Our partnership with Tibi Healthcare sets a new standard for workforce health monitoring in the mining industry.
“Remote operations shouldn’t compromise healthcare access. By bringing medical services directly to site, we’re removing barriers to healthcare monitoring services.
“Ensuring everyone goes home safe and well every day is our number one priority – it’s an important part of our culture.”
Tibi Healthcare CEO Dr Nell Gillett said “Our mobile health units are designed to meet the unique challenges of remote work environments. By bringing diagnostics and early screening onsite, we’re closing the gap between risk and response.
“This initiative is more than a health service — it’s a commitment to the health and wellbeing of every worker.”
